Roland S. Howard – Pop Crimes – LP – ReIssue
Roland S. Howard’s second solo album, Pop Crimes, was released in 16 October 2009, ten years after Howard’s previous solo album Teenage Snuff Film. He unfortuanately passed away two-and-a-half months later on his death 30 December, 2009 from liver failure.
If you aren’t aware of who he was, Howard was the guy who wrote the immortal Birthday Party punk ballad, ‘Shivers’, with Nick Cave, Mick Harvey and Tracy Pew in the band at the time. He released albums with Lydia Lunch, was also part of Crime & The City Solution in the mid-80s, and there is a Lanewayin Melbourne with his name on it. In short, he is a legend! Check out Autoluminescence, his death-time biography, which is strangely uplifting too.
The album received a local release in the United States by Fat Possum Records this year August 2014, this is that US pressing.
