Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds –
From Her To Eternity – LP
In 1984 Nick Cave channelled his inner Southern Blues swampman on this album and started making history with The Bad Seeds.
Based in Berlin in the last divided days before David Hassellhoff sang on the wall in shoulderpads, this album features one of my favourite Bad Seeds lineups of Barry Adamson, Hugo Race, Anita Lane, Blixa Bargeld (Einsterzenden Neubauten) and Mick Harvey (collaborator on every album until his latest, “Pushing The Sky Away”).
The twisted romantic title track is my pick of the lot – screeching and writhing, old Nick pulls a poem in the form of dark lyrics out of his soul to charm any young lady.
