Lee Hazlewood – Trouble is a Lonesome Town – 2 x LP – Archive Series

With an album title like “Trouble is a Lonesome Town”, you cannot be forgiven if you don’t know this is an Americana country folk album. But with Lee Hazelwood at the helm, you know you’re in for a hayride of songwriting depth, moving emotion and good ole storytelling!

On the liner notes, Jack Tracy describes this album as “the tale of a Town called Trouble, narrated and sung in a manner which will give you a unique half hour of enjoyment”. You’ll meet some fascinating characters in Trouble. There’s George and Orville Dobkins, for example, the two brothers who do a lot of stealing, but mainly from each other. Anna May Stillwell is the young girl who started blossoming and blossoming until folks began to wonder if winter was ever going to come.
